The Institute of Archeology collaborates with research and educational institutions of Ukraine, Central as well as South-East Europe. During 2001 – 2009 Agreements of scientific cooperation in the sphere of primitive as well as early Middle Ages archeology were concluded with the Institute of Archeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Institute of Carpathian Studies of Uzhhorod National University, Regional Administration of Historical and Cultural Heritage of Lviv Region State Administration, Lviv Historical Museum, Historical-Area Studies Museum in the town of Vynnyky, Busk Ye. Petrushevych Grammar School, the Institute of Archeology of the Slovenian Academy of Arts and Sciences (the city of Ljubljana) as well as other educational and research centres where archeology is cultivated
The Institute participates in international projects. Jointly with the Institute of Archeology of the Slovenian Academy of Arts and Sciences (the city of Ljubljana) during 2003-2004 it was working on the topic “Interrelations between Slovenia and Ukraine in the early Middle Ages“, in which along with historical generalizations made new approaches to the systematizing of the monuments of the mid 1st millennium A. D. in the Central as well as Central and Eastern Europe were elaborated. From 2006 to 2010 the employees of the Institute are involved in the implementation of the international scientific project “Birth of Slavic states: condition and prospects for research”, initiated by the National Centre for Scientific Research and the Higher School of Applied Research of France (Paris – Sorbonne), the Institute of Archeology of Stockholm University and the Institute of Archeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in 2005. In 2008 a field scientific workshop was held at Plisnesk archeological complex as well as the final part of the second symposium in which there participated the leading specialists in the sphere of early Middle Ages of the Institute of Archeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and research institutions of the Central and South-East Europe was held there.
Within the framework of the University the Institute cooperates closely with the Faculty of History in the sphere of training specialists-archeologists. Senior students in the specialty “Archeology” are improving their knowledge (V. Shelep, А. Fylypchuk, О. Blaha, М. Baydala and H. Soloviy) at the Institute. The research workers of the Institute annually prepare students-archeologists to participate in scientific conferences for students.
