In September, 2002 Institute of Archaeology of the Ivan Franko National University of L’viv organized the international conference “New technologies in the archaeology” together with the Institute of Archaeology of Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences and with the Institute of pristine and early history of the Vienna University (Austria). It was supported by Ukrainian Embassy in Austria and Ukraine – Austria Bureau for science, education and cultural cooperation. The main goal of this conference was to popularize innovations in theory and methodology of archaeological investigations.
The new elaborations were presented by specialists from Ukraine (V.Baran, D.Kozak, N.Gavryluk, M.Tymchenko, G.Pashkevych, K.Bunyatyan, D.Nedopako, A.Tomashevsky, O.Kozak, O.Smyntyna, M.Filipchuk, O.Osaulchuk, T.Mylyan, P.Dovhan, N.Stebliy, R.Chayka, N.Voyceshchuk), Austria (F.Daim, B.Czech, G.Scharrer, B.Buller), Czech Republic (I.Plejnerova), Slovenia (A.Pletersky), Russia (D.Korobov). The results of conference demonstrated clearly the progress in archaeology as independent science. Book under the title “New technology in the archaeology” was published afterwards.
